About Retell
Retell AI is building the modern CX platform for enterprise contact centers, using first-principles voice AI to automate sales, support, and logistics calls at scale. Thousands of companies—including CVS/Aetna, American Airlines, Lenovo, and Grab—use Retell's AI voice agents to replace large teams of human agents, with the platform powering everything from frontline agents to QA analysts and managers. Backed by Y Combinator (W24), Alt Capital, and Carya Venture Partners, Retell claims $80M ARR as of August 2026 (public data: $60M+ as of April 2026), up from $5M at the start of 2025, and a valuation north of $1.5B. The team is 50 strong, with alumni from Stripe (payments lead), Google AI research, and Facebook product. The company has been recognized as a top AI app by a16z, #3 Fastest-Growing Software Company (G2 2026), and a member of the Nasdaq & Wing VC Enterprise Tech 30 (2026). The vision: a fully AI-powered contact center where intelligent agents continuously execute, monitor, and improve every customer interaction—no more basic automation that needs constant human tuning. The market believes: Retell is the fastest-growing voice AI company in the category, with real revenue, enterprise traction, and a reputation for technical depth.

About This Role

The mandate: Own how Retell shows up to the market. Identify breakout opportunities and turn early product momentum into market-defining growth — positioning, launches, sales enablement, and brand campaigns.

The split is stated and it's the honest framing: 80% core PMM, 20% directing creative campaigns for social. Recruiters should say that plainly. A PMM who wants pure product marketing will find the 20% a distraction; a brand marketer who wants creative will find the 80% a grind. The right candidate wants both.

Reports to the CMO — Evie Wang, co-founder. Works closely with the founding team.

"You won't just maintain messaging, you'll define it."

What You'll Own

Positioning and messaging

  • Across all buyer types and verticals
  • Vertical-specific narratives for healthcare, legal, automotive, insurance, utilities, and logistics — six verticals, which is a lot of surface for one person
  • Competitive differentiation kept sharp as the landscape moves

Product launches

  • End to end: strategy, narrative, cross-functional coordination, brief through announcement
  • Partner with the Dev Evangelist on the demo and technical content layer

Sales enablement, built from scratch

  • The toolkit doesn't exist. You create it.
  • Run enablement sessions and keep the team current on messaging

Customer and market insight

  • Ongoing discovery translated into messaging that converts
  • Case studies and proof points across key verticals

Brand and social campaigns (the 20%)

  • Concept campaigns and brief the creative team
  • Plan bursts around launches, events, and AI industry moments

Requirements

Hard gates:

  • 2+ years product marketing in B2B SaaS, developer tools, or AI infrastructure. Low floor for the band — Retell is buying judgment, not tenure.
  • Owned launches end to end, not contributed to them. Stated twice.
  • Strong messaging instincts — knows what to say and how to brief others to say it
  • Built sales enablement from scratch. Specific and non-negotiable; someone who inherited a mature enablement program hasn't done this.
  • Comfortable with technical products
  • On-site, Redwood City (relocation provided)

Profile:

  • 3–7 years total realistically, given the band
  • Hands-on. "You don't just plan, you ship."
  • Moves fast on incomplete information
  • Translates complexity into clear value

Strong bonuses:

  • AI infrastructure, CCaaS, or contact center experience — Five9, Genesys, NICE, Talkdesk, Twilio, LivePerson. Rare and directly relevant across six verticals.
  • Marketed to both technical and business buyers — the dual-audience problem is central here
  • Directed social campaigns with real organic reach. The 20% is real; ask for examples.
  • Strong aesthetic sensibility and a POV on brand content
  • Startup experience

Location and visa:

  • On-site, Redwood City. Relocation provided.
  • Sponsorship: H-1B, TN, L-1, E-3, F-1 (OPT/CPT), and O-1. O-1 is on this req and not on the Content one — inconsistent, worth one question.

How Retell Actually Evaluates (their criteria — use them in outreach and in screening)

  • Whether you've actually owned positioning that shaped how a product is perceived
  • Whether you can concept campaigns that earn real attention, not just fill a calendar
  • Whether product, sales, and design teams would genuinely want to work with you
  • Whether you move fast and make good decisions under ambiguity

Anti-patterns

  • PMMs who've only worked inside an existing positioning framework. The most common near-miss — they'll interview well and have nothing to point to.
  • Launch contributors rather than launch owners. Called out twice in the JD.
  • Anyone who inherited a mature sales enablement program and maintained it
  • Big-company PMMs with narrow product-area scope and a content team below them
  • Pure brand or campaign marketers with no core PMM depth
  • Pure PMMs who find the creative 20% beneath them
  • Strategists who write decks but don't ship assets
  • Remote requirements

Who Will Thrive Here

Someone who has walked into a company with no messaging, written it, watched sales use it, and seen the win rate move. They can build a healthcare narrative on Monday and brief a creative team on a launch campaign Wednesday. They have taste and opinions about brand, and they're equally comfortable in a battlecard. They want to name a category rather than defend one — and that opportunity genuinely exists here, because nobody has won the vocabulary of voice AI yet.
