- Owns content, social, brand, community, events, SEO/AEO
- Scrappy, autonomous, gets the zeitgeist
- B2B selling into startups
- Ramp/Brex/Rho/Mercury/Deel types
This person owns the online presence, content, brand, and top-of-funnel. OneGC has done essentially nothing here yet (first-ever LinkedIn post was late last week; no socials, PR, content, advertising, outbound structure, or events program), so there are a lot of early wins. The goal is to drive qualified demos (from ~20-something a month to 50+), knowing the close rate is over 50%, so almost any reasonably qualified top of funnel converts.
The spike Evan wants is content generation, social media, and brand awareness, getting startups in front of other startups at a high clip, not partnership formation (they have people for that). Think a permanently-online growth marketer fluent across LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Reddit, Hacker News, and launch channels, who can run content, community, events, referral programs, SEO and especially AEO (getting OneGC’s content and data into the right places so startups find them first for legal). They set much of the creative direction themselves (with company support), own the voice, and manage the CRM (Monaco) and tracking. They get full access to the company and founders’ LinkedIn/Twitter and everyone’s network. Tone matters: OneGC sells legal services, so it has to stay mature and trustworthy (explicitly “not straight-up Corgi”), while still approachable and funny and plugged into the startup/tech zeitgeist. Companies Evan admires for this back-office-startup motion: early Ramp, Brex, Rho, Mercury to a degree, and Deel in its early days.
What You’ll Own
- Top-of-funnel growth: driving qualified demos (toward 50+/month) across two motions (early-stage YC/Speedrun/a16z world, and a more upmarket motion)
- Content generation and social media (LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Reddit, Hacker News, launches) and brand voice
- Community and events, referral programs, SEO/AEO, and other creative top-of-funnel levers
- Owning the CRM (Monaco), tracking conversion, and reporting on demos booked (the metric Evan cares about, not vanity metrics)
Requirements
- A growth marketer who owns content, brand, and top-of-funnel end to end, scrappy and hands-on
- Excellent at building a brand via socials and online; strong content creation
- High agency and autonomous: gets things done, uses AI and tools, automates, figures out solutions, minimal management
- Creative and big-thinking; can own creative direction from scratch
- Gets the startup/tech zeitgeist and can hit a mature, trustworthy-but-approachable voice (not “Corgi”)
- Comfortable owning a CRM and tracking conversion to demos booked
Signal
- B2B (not B2C), ideally selling into startups; not enterprise-focused
- People who did this well early at back-office-startup brands (Ramp, Brex, Rho, Mercury, early Deel)
- ~3 to 5 years out of college, has done this before
Who Will Thrive Here
