As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll own core systems on a very small engineering team that carries all of Launchpoint. More than 160,000 creators, some of the most demanding brands in the world, and real money moving every week depend on what that team builds being right. The problems are hard in every direction at once: scale, correctness, people actively trying to game the system with fake views, and speed. Most have no playbook. There’s no ticket queue and nobody standing between you and the problem; you’ll own large parts of the platform outright, from first design through production and everything after.
The team wants someone who wants the hardest work of their career so far and more responsibility than a larger company would hand them for years. That means exceptional TypeScript, real depth in data modeling, and a record of taking ambiguous problems to production with very little oversight. They hold high standards and high speed at the same time, and they care about product judgment: whether what you shipped moved a number for a customer.
What You’ll Do
- Own core backend systems end to end, from first design through production
- Build for volume that grows every month, where a wrong number costs someone real money
- Solve problems with no written answer: messy real-world data, fraud, and infrastructure that has to hold under load
- Apply AI where it changes what a small team is capable of
- Set the technical bar for architecture, code quality, and shipping speed
- Work directly with customers and decide what gets built, not just how
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years building and running production backend systems
- Exceptional TypeScript (used across the stack, with React Native on mobile)
- Depth in data modeling and making systems fast and correct at scale
- Record of taking hard, ambiguous problems to production with little oversight
- High standards and high speed at the same time
- Product judgment: cares whether shipped work moved a number for a customer
Background
- Strongest archetype: backend engineer from adtech, a marketplace, or a payments product
- Experience at a fast-growing startup, or on a high-scale team at a larger company
- Has worked on systems where money or trust was on the line
- Has shipped AI features real users depend on
Who Will Thrive Here
- A backend owner who wants the hardest problems of their career so far
- Someone who ships fast without lowering the bar
- An engineer who thinks in customer outcomes, not just tickets
- Someone who wants outsized responsibility on a tiny, high-stakes team
