About Eragon
Eragon’s core thesis is that companies should own their intelligence, rather than being trapped inside one provider’s models, pricing, and privacy terms. The product is a model router that routes across 450+ models (open and closed source), hostable anywhere (locally, in the customer’s own cloud, or elsewhere), giving full control over analytics and how AI is used across the org. It is a chat interface plus an easy way to launch enterprise agents that can do real work (pay an invoice, go hire someone). Backed by a16z Speedrun, Soma Capital, Axiom Partners, AltaIR Capital, and Beat Ventures. The company is a global one, selling worldwide, with about 100 customers from seed-to-Series-B names like Corgi and Slash up to larger enterprises like Deel, Prodware, and other public companies. They have deployed engineers on-site with customers globally (most recently two engineers for a week in Abu Dhabi, also France and elsewhere), and they have a company apartment to help relocate new hires into the city.

About This Role

Eragon is expanding its engineering team to turn its AI platform into reliable, useful, and governable enterprise software while supporting a growing customer base. This hire helps increase the team’s capacity to build across the product and platform without sacrificing engineering quality.

As a Member of Technical Staff, you’ll work across the Eragon product, including agent execution, memory, skills, harnesses, model and tool use, integrations, infrastructure, and product surfaces. The primary spike is building and improving dependable AI agent systems that can operate in real-world business environments, balancing AI fluency with strong software engineering fundamentals.

What You'll Own

  • Design, build, and operate product and platform features across the agent lifecycle.
  • Improve how agents use context, models, tools, and connected business systems to complete tasks.
  • Work across memory, skills, the overall harness, infrastructure, optimization, and product experiences as needed.
  • Build for reliability, observability, security, and clear user control.
  • Partner with design and customer-facing teammates to understand problems and ship useful solutions.
  • Help establish engineering practices that support fast iteration without sacrificing quality.

Technical Requirements

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience shipping production software.
  • Experience working across systems and product surfaces and making pragmatic technical tradeoffs.
  • Experience with AI or agent systems, or demonstrated interest in making them reliable and useful.
  • Ability to understand infrastructure and engineering fundamentals rather than relying solely on AI-assisted development.
  • TypeScript/Node.js experience is helpful.
  • Experience with enterprise software, integrations, or evaluation systems is a plus.

Execution and Ownership

  • Comfort working on ambiguous, high-impact problems.
  • Clear communication, ownership, and willingness to work through ambiguity.
  • Ability to operate broadly across the product and take initiative as priorities evolve.

Background

  • Typically 1–5 years out of school.
  • Experience at a high-growth startup is preferred.
  • Experience working on an AI-native product is preferred.
  • Candidates with broad skill sets who can contribute across product, infrastructure, and agent systems are especially relevant.
  • Candidates with nontraditional backgrounds, including failed founders, dropouts, or lower-signal universities, may be considered when they demonstrate exceptional strengths elsewhere.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with enterprise software, integrations, or evaluation systems.
  • Experience deploying software inside customer environments or working directly with customers.
  • Experience at an AI-native startup such as a comparable high-growth AI company.
  • Product experience or the ability to contribute to product decisions.

Who Will Thrive Here You’ll thrive here if you enjoy broad ownership, learn quickly across technical and product boundaries, and are energized by ambiguous problems in AI systems. The team values initiative, natural curiosity, deep technical interests, and people who can contribute meaningfully beyond a narrowly defined area.
