Anvara is hiring its first Product Manager to take the deep product work off Nick’s plate and raise the bar on it. Right now Nick personally lives in the product all day, iterating on mockups and prototypes (listing creation, core features) using AI tools, studying how strong products like Ramp, Klarna, Rocket Money, and Polymarket handle flows, then handing versions to design (Figma) and engineering to build. Being this deep in the product flow is his main bottleneck, and it is not the best use of his time. He wants two things from this hire: free up his time on the very specific, time-consuming parts of the product, and bring genuinely better product, UX, and UI expertise than his own, from someone who has built a great product elsewhere for several years and can be a real thought partner, help manage the engineering and product teams alongside him, spend time in the data, and put out the product fires he keeps getting pulled into.
The core of the job is prototyping and data, not user interviews. Nick does not see this person talking to users much (some of their own research is fine); he wants someone deeply data-driven with excellent product taste, who can make something complex feel clear and effortless. Anvara’s product is genuinely complex (what you buy is complicated), but the listings and information have to be conveyed in a way that sells the inventory, so clarity and persuasion matter. The work runs both ends of the funnel: top-of-funnel (investigate the data, find the problem, research and shape a solution with Nick) and bottom-of-funnel (Nick says “redesign this specific flow” and they execute). It is a heavy prototyping role (Claude Code, Figma, AI tools), scoping and specing for the fast-moving engineering team, and being AI-native is essential. The biggest risk Nick wants to avoid is someone who came from a great-product logo but was not part of the culture actually changing things, someone who cannot make large sweeping changes with real ownership, or someone who cannot get extremely deep in the weeds.
What You’ll Do
- Own the roadmap: turn customer feedback, data, and company direction into a prioritized plan the team believes in
- Write short, specific specs engineers can build from without a follow-up meeting
- Prototype fast: build clickable, working versions of ideas with AI tools before committing engineering time
- Live in the data: understand how customers actually use the product and turn that into decisions
- Run launches end to end, measure what happened, decide what is next
- Partner with go-to-market so field insight shapes what gets built; help manage the engineering and product teams with Nick
- Help build the product function as the company grows
Requirements
- 2+ years in product, ideally at an early-stage startup, marketplace, or B2B SaaS (ex-founders and engineers who moved into product welcome); not straight out of school
- Shipped real product to real users and can point to what changed because of it
- Prototypes without waiting on design (builds working versions of what they describe)
- Writes clearly: short, specific specs that leave nothing to guess
- Deeply data-driven / fluent in product analytics (Nick’s top requirement alongside taste)
- Strong product taste (knows what great software feels like, notices when something is off)
- AI-native (uses the newest AI tools, design and engineering libraries, genuine curiosity for new developments; Nick says this cannot be taught)
- Understands marketplaces, or is obsessed with learning them; web-app (not mobile) product depth
Execution and Ownership
- High agency (a requirement): figures it out when something is not working, writes the playbook when there is none
- Comfortable making large sweeping changes with real ownership, not tweaking one button
- Can get extremely deep in the weeds with patience and attention to detail
- Loves what Anvara is building for its own sake (not here for the money or the logo; sports fandom is not required)
Who Will Thrive Here
- A data-driven PM with exceptional taste who prototypes with AI and makes complex products feel simple
- Someone from a strong, actually-changing product culture who owns large sweeping changes and lives in the weeds
- An AI-native builder who ships, specs cleanly, and can be Nick’s product thought partner
- Someone who genuinely loves the product, high agency, no hand-holding
