About Ambi
Ambi is a stealth AI-hardware startup building an integrated system across hardware, software, and cloud that acts as a "living memory" — capturing conversations, meetings, and the signals of everyday life so people move from intention to action without typing or UI navigation as the bottleneck. Core surfaces are Apple Watch, iPhone, and a Mac desktop app, with an agent + ASR (speech-to-text) pipeline underneath. It was founded by the ex-CEO's team out of Plaud (the AI note-taking hardware company that scaled ~$1M→$100M ARR in two years) — a group that grew disenchanted with how Plaud was building and left to take a high-agency swing at next-gen hardware. Ambi is ~40 people globally (majority in China), well-capitalized (~$20M raised), and is now building out its US core team in San Francisco.

About This Role

Ambi is hiring a Founding Head of GTM to own go-to-market and brand as one seat — strategy and execution, funnel and narrative. It's a player/coach: you do the hands-on work of funnel logic, channel sequencing, and brand narrative yourself, and direct/coach anyone else who touches GTM/marketing (contractors, future hires) — there's no separate peer marketing head. The immediate, concrete mission: own a big software announcement in late September / early October — the strategy, channels, and content, front to back. Austin has evolved toward wanting an awesome, tactical, hands-on operator now (who could grow into leadership later) over a pure leadership hire.

The strongest fit is consumer, not B2B — Austin is skeptical of B2B backgrounds because acquisition is so different. He wants someone who owns the channels and can explain, front to back, the spend, the channel mix, the conversion, and why each choice maps to outcomes — and who's a real product stakeholder ("I can sell this if you give me/fix this," raising needs with engineering). The JD's fuller version: owned both GTM execution and brand/positioning for a startup launch (seed→Series B), can sequence a multi-channel beta-to-launch plan and write/art-direct brand narrative, and has grown something from zero awareness and zero brand equity.

What You'll Own

  • GTM strategy end to end: funnel logic, beta-to-launch sequencing, channel mix (founder-led outreach, KOL activation, community platforms, Product Hunt / Hacker News)
  • The late-Sep/early-Oct software announcement — strategy, channels, content, execution
  • Brand narrative, voice, and positioning from scratch — the angles that make the thesis land; validating the real early-adopter audience
  • A working beta acquisition funnel; reading conversion by channel and reallocating spend
  • Directing/coaching anyone else on GTM/marketing (player/coach); building a repeatable playbook

Requirements

  • Owned both GTM execution and brand/positioning for a startup launch (seed→Series B) — the full stack, not one half
  • Consumer marketing background (strong skepticism on B2B); knows how to actually acquire consumers
  • Can sequence a multi-channel beta-to-launch plan and write/art-direct narrative that lands
  • Maps spend → outcomes cleanly, front to back; owns channels and conversion
  • Grown something from zero awareness and zero brand equity

Execution and Ownership

  • Player/coach — hands-on and tactical now; can grow into leadership
  • A real product stakeholder — raises feature needs with engineering, understands the sell-if-you-build-it relationship
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; a 0→1 hire before
  • Deeply immersed / has genuine hot takes about the space

Who Will Thrive Here

  • A consumer GTM operator who owns funnel and narrative and wants to run a real launch hands-on
  • Someone who can defend every channel and dollar against outcomes
  • A 0→1, zero-brand-equity builder comfortable being the whole GTM function -Immersed enough in the space to have real, specific opinions
